The National Insulation Association represents the manufacturers and installers of Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation and Draughtproofing and other innovative solutions.  Both the NIA and its members are fully commited to maintaining and raising standards within the insulation industry.

CIGA is an independent agency with its own secretariat that provides independent 25 year Guarantee covering cavity wall insulation. It is governed by a council of "System Designers" (who supply the insulation material) and registered installers, with support from trade associations and Government bodies.

Before installation begins, a CIGA registered installer will carry out a pre-installation assessment to ensure that the property is suitable for Cavity Wall Insulation. The installation of the insulation will then be completed at a mutually convenient time according to stringent technical standards laid down by CIGA.

Once the work is finished and final payment has been received the installer will apply to CIGA for a Guarantee, and a certificate will be sent directly to you. The Guarantee should be kept safely, as it may need to be produced in the event of a claim or if you sell the property, since the Guarantee is also available to subsequent owners of the property.

The CIGA Guarantee covers defects in materials or workmanship, and in the event of a problem CIGA's technical department is there to help.

The BBA is the UK’s major authority offering approval of construction products, systems and installers.

The BBA's scheme for the assessment and surveillance of installers of cavity wall insulation is based on a three-party arrangement between the BBA, the Certificate holder and the Approved Installer.

Before the proposed installer can be considered for assessment by the BBA, an application form that has been countersigned by the Certificate holder must be submitted to the BBA. The Certificate holder must satisfy himself that the proposed installer is capable of installing the cavity wall insulation system competently and according to the Agrement Certificate.

A new BBA scheme for the installation of loft insulation has now been developed with input from energy industry stakeholders to help ensure that this is installed professionally to meet required standards and deliver the anticipated energy and CO₂ savings to householders.

ACT ON CO₂ is a cross-government initiative, currently involving the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).

The campaign demonstrates the government’s commitment to taking action on climate change, working with businesses and individuals in order to reduce CO₂ emissions.
